Ruddy skin takes cosmetic ingredients, harsh soap and hot water personally. If it could talk, it would cry ‘Ouch’ each time we clean it with hot water. Cold and wind turn milky whiteness of fair skin to red splotches. Redness is mostly found in the cheeks, chin, nose and forehead.
The causes of ruddy skin are breakouts, stresses, hormonal imbalances, lack of melanin, sensitivity to temperature changes and sometimes use of birth control pills. The sun burns it easily and prematures wrinkling.
Ruddy skin needs good cosmetic defense in any season. As it is often sensitive, such skin has to be treated carefully. Use cosmetics formulated specially for delicate skin. Even in winter use make-up with sun protection. It will help you to keep your skin smooth and calm.
As a rule, in the morning everything ruddy skin needs is a splash of lukewarm water and a soft towel. If you use a cleanser, apply it with fingertips and then rinse with warm water. Avoid using deodorant and antibacterial soaps, as well as abrasive facial pads. They irritate ruddy skin, as well as scrubbing, massaging and rubbing the face.
Oily or combination ruddy skin is very sensitive. Use cleansers created for normal or oily skin, instead of strong degreasers. If ruddy skin is dry, you should avoid astringents and toners. As for the oily or combination skin, if your forehead, chin and nose are often oily, you may use alcohol free toners.
If you need to bring down redness, use exfoliants with cooling treatments. Green or white tea, chamomile and Aloe Vera are very effective for ruddy skin, especially in winter. Use moisturizes and protective creams to avoid redness in cold windy days.
Cheeks need special care. Even if you have oily skin, do not forget to apply moisturizer on them. At night, make-up should be removed with a liquid cleanser. And finally, apply a night cream with soothing effect to calm your skin down. In this case organic skin care is most proper one.
