Pilates is a safe exercise program, which allows stretching and strengthening the major muscle groups of the body as well as smaller and weaker muscles. Pilates is very similar to yoga stretching and partly reminds the dancing pas. Unlike other types of fitness Pilates doesn’t require a great number of sets. The quality of training is the most important and it can be achieved only by conscientious and scrupulous exercising.
Pilates is very effective in dealing with problem zones of the body helping to get rid of fat and cellulites on the hips, tighten the tummy, develop the adductor muscles and improve the health. Pilates for women is useful for many reasons, first of all because it allows working with the muscles which are very hard to train and secondly, it develops muscles participating in the process of labor.
Today a lot of pregnant women are engaged in fitness and Pilates without giving up trainings, keeping their bodies in a good shape, and preparing themselves for the childbirth. Besides Pilates provides the complex of exercises able to remove load of the body and relax. After labor it’s possible to start training again as it will contribute to quicker recovery, physical and emotional stability during breastfeeding period.
Virtually there are no contraindications for practicing Pilates as well as no age limits and inappropriate physical conditions of the body. But before going in for Pilates you should learn its basic principles. Your breathing must be as deep as possible. The more oxygen goes to the muscles, the better they work. You must fill the lungs with air to the limit and exhale completely.
You need to learn how to relax those muscles, which are currently resting. The quality of training is improved if to imagine what happens to your body. You have to be concentrated on the exercises not thinking about something except training. It is unacceptable to move by inertia, every exercise must be done by means of certain muscle tension.
All exercises of Pilates are developed on a scientific basis and consist of three phases: first, the muscles are stretched, then they are getting stronger, and finally are stretched again.
