Our skin needs it as a basic material for cells which influences greatly on production of collagen. This is collagen that makes our skin elastic. Collagen supports skin natural texture and prevents formation of wrinkles. Connective tissue surrounding our body organs also contains collagen. About 2% of muscle tissue are composed of collagen. That is why, vitamin C is used in most body and face creams.

As we have already said, vitamin C is very important for our health. This major nutrient is also known as ascorbic acid. Vitamin C is not only a co-factor in synthesis of collagen, but it is also known as anti-oxidant. This vitamin is very essential in metabolism of human body. We need it every day to be healthy.

Vitamin C FruitsWhere can we get vitamin C from? We can get vitamin C from food, fruits and vegetables. It can be found in such citruses as lemon, lime, cantaloupes, orange, papaya, grapefruit and mango, as well as in apple, peach, watermelon, melon and cherry. As for vegetable, vitamin C can be found in broccoli, cucumber, tomato, onion and green peppers. Lack of vitamin C can result in some diseases, for example in scurvy. The most common diseases caused by lack of this vitamin are skin bleeding, gum disease and general weakness. Children rarely suffer from these disorders. Mainly older people whose diet is improper suffer from them.

So, as you see our inner beauty depends upon vitamin C no less than our outward beauty.
